Many people in the United States are unemployed as a result of the current pandemic. While it continues to wreak havoc worldwide, more and more businesses are shutting down, and more people are suffering financially. If this is you, then you might be wondering how on earth you’re going to get through the rest of the year.
Don’t worry, though – now is the time to be innovative and think outside the box. No matter what you did for work before you lost your job, now is the time to think about what’s available that you can do from home. This way, you can still pay the bills and make the most of the lemon that has been 2020.
1. Build a Website
Do you have any experience building websites, or do you know how to code? Then you could turn your skill into a side gig that you can do from the comfort of your own home by helping people build their websites. The good news is that there are plenty of people out there still that need help with this part, and if you’re fluent in code, you’re the person for the job.
There are plenty of job listing sites out there where you can look for website building gigs, and while you might not get something right away, it’s important to be persistent – it will pay off in the end. You might even find someone who you can work with consistently for a long time.
2. Manage Social Media Accounts
Most brands, big and small, have their product or service on social media, with the likes of Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter drawing in big crowds. The trouble is, most of them are too busy with the bigger picture to grow their own social media accounts.
This is where you can come in. There are plenty of opportunities out there to help brands manage their social media accounts so that you can help a brand increase their exposure online, and you can keep a roof over your head in return. From creating posts to writing and strategizing for them, there’s a lot that is involved in being a social media manager.
3. Drive for Uber
While this one isn’t technically from home, it does involve creating your own hours, using your own vehicle, and making as little or as much money as you want. There are plenty of ride-sharing apps out there now like Uber that can make you a lot of money if you’re someone who loves spending time in their car and driving around.
If your current vehicle isn’t up to snuff, consider purchasing a new one for the job – it will increase your chances of being taken on by Uber. If you can’t afford this right now, consider taking out a car title loan against your existing vehicle. Car title loans are great for short-term loan solutions so that you can get your new vehicle and start driving for Uber next week.
4. Mobile App Development
Are you someone who always has new app ideas, but you don’t know where to start with them? Why not turn this entrepreneurial side into your part-time job that you can do from home? Mobile app development is one of the highest-paid side gigs out there, which means that you could get anywhere from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand dollars for helping a startup or a small brand develop its mobile app.
The only thing to consider here is that you should have a bit of experience with coding or engineering, just to increase your chances of being paid well.
Whether you are familiar with engineering and coding, or you don’t have too much experience in this arena, there are plenty of ways that you can make money from home right now amid the current epidemic. Just get yourself out there, and increase your chances of finding something that can keep you afloat for now.
