Maruti Suzuki has commenced pre-bookings for the upcoming S-Cross Hybrid. The flagship crossover SUV will be sold through Maruti’s premium NEXA outlets. Customers can book a new S-Cross by visiting the dealerships as well as online with a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets feature updates and design improvements along with a new advanced infotainment system.
However, the biggest change is its new mild-hybrid powertrain. With the S-Cross Smart Vehicle Hybrid System (SVHS), Maruti Suzuki is taking a step further towards its green vehicle mission. Not to mention that currently, Maruti offers the widest range of affordable CNG and hybrid vehicles in the country. Although the automaker does not have a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), it plans to launch more hybrid and CNG cars, including Maruti Swift.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol Hybrid Coming Soon
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets a new petrol engine along with smart hybrid technology from Suzuki. Prior to this, S-Cross was available only in mild hybrid diesel options. However, as the automaker stopped production of all its diesel engine cars, S-Cross was due for a new engine. A 1.5-liter BS6 compliant K-series petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system will power the new S-Cross.
The same engine is also available in Maruti Ciaz, Brezza, Ertiga, and XL6. However, it’s obvious that for S-Cross the engine will be tuned accordingly. The company says the new engine will be more powerful and with the hybrid system, it’ll be fuel-efficient as well.
As for hybrid technology, the automaker said in its press release that two small lithium-ion batteries will power the electric motor.
The Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) of Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Shashank Srivastava said, “S-Cross enjoys a special place in the NEXA portfolio as its flagship product and has been appreciated by over 1.25 lakh customers for its premium interiors, stylish and masculine design.“
Furthermore, Maruti promises that the new S-Cross is equipped with best in class features, aggressive design, premium interior, and a lot more. On the safety point, the new S-Cross petrol underwent testing at the company’s world-class Rohtak R&D facility. According to Maruti, S-Cross is compliant with modern-age safety norms like pedestrian safety, frontal offset crash, and side-impact. Unlike most Maruti cars, we hope S-Cross will be safer.
The automaker is yet to release official specifications for the new S-Cross. We’ll try to cover the spec-oriented article as soon as the company reveals it.
