Snapchat Debuts TikTok Alternative Called ‘Sounds’ On iOS

After TikTok got banned from several countries, there is now a huge gap left to be filled. And Snapchat plans to capture the same via its new music-powered feature that works as a TikTok alternative dubbed “Sounds on Snapchat.”

By using Sounds, Snapchat users can create better snaps by using the music of both new and established artists. Currently, the feature is just available on Snapchat for iOS, and there is no information on when it would arrive on Android.

How to use Sounds on Snapchat?

You can add music to Snaps via Sounds either pre or post-recording and share it either on your Story or directly with friends in DM.

To add music before recording a video, select the Sounds tool (with the music notes icon) on the screen’s right-hand side. Now, choose a track from the Featured Sounds list and start capturing the video.

For adding the music after taking a Snap, tap on Sounds tools and select a track from the list. That’s it; your Snap stories will now become a whole lot peppier than before.

A better Tiktok alternative?

Snapchat Sounds currently offers millions of licensed songs from Snap’s music industry partners. On receiving a Snap with Sounds, you can swipe up to view the album art, song title, and artist’s name.

If you end up loving a piece of music on Snapchat, you can click on the “Play This Song” link to listen to the full song on your preferred streaming platform, like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.

I am sure many users will appreciate this feature as it was missing on TikTok. Finding the music source was pretty difficult on TikTok because tapping on the “sound” takes users to a page that shows other videos using the same music clip and rarely contains links to play the full song.

But this changes with Snapchat as users won’t have to scratch their brains to find full tracks and then enjoy it.
