The all-new hybrid Toyota Urban Cruiser is available for bookings as we speak. You can book the new Urban Cruiser both online as well as through the company’s nearest outlet with a token amount of Rs 11,000. Urban Cruiser is the first hybrid and compact SUV from Toyota in India.
In addition to the booking announcement, Toyota has also revealed some important information regarding the engine and other highlights. Let’s explore them a bit.
Powertrain
Under the hood, it’s a 1.5-liter four-cylinder K-series petrol engine that powers the Urban Cruiser. It’s the same engine that’s inside the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Although Toyota has not revealed engine output, Brezza generates around 103 BHP and 138 Nm of torque.
Apart from this, Urban Cruiser is also available with a hybrid powertrain. The hybrid option is equipped with a small Li-ion battery for better fuel-efficiency.
The compact SUV is offered in both automatic and manual transmission with all automatic variants available in hybrid options only.
Urban Cruiser Is Maruti Brezza With Toyota Badging
Though it might be Toyota’s first compact SUV, it’s simply Maruti Brezza with Toyota badging. Almost everything from its appearance to its powertrain is identical to Brezza. Similar to how Toyota Glanza is adopted from Maruti Baleno, Urban Cruiser is based on Maruti Brezza.
However, there are slight changes incorporated into the compact SUV to give it the essence of Toyota. The front grille seems to be inspired by Fortuner. Similarly, the design of the lower bumper has been changed to make it look like a Toyota car.
Furthermore, the dashboard including the infotainment system is pretty much the same as that of Brezza. However, the dual-tone interior might feel different to a lot of users. Other than that, the Toyota Urban Cruiser is simply a Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
