MKVToolnix 10.0.0 Open-Source MKV Manipulator Improves H.264 and H.265 Parsers

MKVToolnix developer Moritz Bunkus released a new major branch of his popular, open-source and cross-platform MKV (Matroska) manipulation software, versioned 10.0.0.

That's right, MKVToolnix 10.0.0 is finally here, and it's dubbed "To Drown In You," but don't get too excited because it doesn't bring any massive changes to the functionality, nor the graphical user interface (GUI). In fact, MKVToolnix 10.0.0 appears to be a small maintenance update over the previous 9.x series.

According to the release notes, MKVToolnix 10.0.0 improves both the AVC/h.264 and HEVC/h.265 parsers of the mkvmerge component to be able to drop all frames of a Matroska file before the first key frame because it looks like they can't be decoded properly anyway, as well as to drop timestamps from the source container when there aren't any frames emitted for the respective timestamp.
